Dr. Toshihiko Omoto

Dr. Toshihiko Omoto, an independent consultant and dispute-resolution expert, has been specialized in advising on major engineering projects and has worked on some of the world’s largest infrastructure projects worldwide. He advises owners, contractors, consultants, governmental bodies, manufacturers, insurers and other professionals on a plethora of matters pertaining to international construction projects. He has over 35 years’ experience in the construction industry, including 30 years’ experience in the international projects in over 25 countries. He has been involved in the resolution of engineering and construction disputes, both by amicable settlement negotiations and by mediation or arbitration.

He is a Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Management of Kyoto University (MBA), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and a FIDIC Presidents Approved Adjudicator who serves on an Assessment Panel for Adjudicators of FIDIC. His experiences as a Neutral include Dispute Board Member, Arbitrator and Mediator and is the Japan Representative of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation. He is a civil engineer by profession and a Fellow Member of ICE (UK), Member of ASCE, USA and Fellow of the JSCE. He is very active in promotion of DB in Asian countries, in cooperation with JICA.
